First Impression
definitely does have a flashy website. There are pictures of a party with Hollywood stars, with offers to join the next bash. There are numerous bonus offers, the sheer number of ads making it seem too good to be true. The bonus information was readily available online. The meat of a good sportsbook, the betting information was not. On a Friday afternoon check of the football point spreads I was greeted with this message: "We are running maintenance on our servers, please come back soon. This made me wonder why the website did not take care of this earlier in the week instead of the day before a big football betting weekend.
Online Research
has extremely negative reviews, based on a check of online sports gambling forums. There were no positive comments found. Among the negative:
- is a scam operation. Avoid it like the plague.
- They don't give out bonuses like they promised. They cannot be trusted.
- did real well attracting young and amateurish gamblers because their marketing technique was catchy. The fancy ads, the radio ads on Howard Stern, all the pics of Hollywood stars down there at their casino. I've heard nothing but slow payouts...awful customer service...stay away.
- They have a long and well-documented history of not paying.
One review site gives a C grade. As recently as July, the rating was even worse, a D+. Aside from slow payout complaints, it is being reported that the marketing director is under investigation for illegal kickbacks. On their own website, claims to be the #1 rated sportsbook by OSGA, ISBC and Insiders Football. With the widespread complaints from gamblers, it makes one wonder what ratings are legitimate.
Customer Service
The customer service at is excellent. After signing up, I was taken to a one-on-one chat screen. The representative said, "You just need to know that we are here, a sympathetic ear." All questions were answered right away. I also called their customer service number (1-888-999-2387) with questions and got great feedback. While one lady was shady with bonus information, the others I talked to were extremely helpful.
Registration
It was very easy to sign up for an account with . As with most other sportsbooks, depositing money is the hard part. If you want to use a credit card, you must first fax them a copy of the card (front and back), a security form and a copy of your driver's license. This is way too much hassle. Some sites, such as , readily accept credit card deposits with no problem. I don't know why the others cannot figure it out. You can also deposit money through Western Union, bank wire, cashier's check or Firepay. The customer service agents recommended Western Union. This was not a hard process, as you simply call Western Union, make a purchase on a credit card and send it to some random name in St. John's, Antigua. It sounds shady, but the money was deposited within two hours. picks up the fees on all deposits over $100.
Promotions
The promotions offered on the website are very appealing. A $300 deposit gets a 10% bonus. A $500 deposit gets the kitchen sink. These offers include:
- 20% bonus on first deposit (must rollover deposit 5X and not withdraw for 30 days)
- 10% re-up reload bonus
- 10% referral bonus
- 10% football losses back (must wager "consistently" through the season.)
- Free accommodations in Costa Rica for annual VIP party (average 10 bets a week over $25 per for 24 straight weeks.)
Let the Games Begin: Gaming Interface
Placing a wager on this site is very easy. You pick the sport and a list of available games and point spreads pops up in a new window. You select the team(s) you want to bet on, then select straight bet, parlay, teaser or if bet. The technology on this site seems to be very good. Wagers are entered into the system right away, even right before kickoff on Sunday morning.
Wagering
For the hardcore sports handicapper, leaves a lot to be desired. The vigorish is the standard 10% except for infrequent no juice promotions. The teaser and parlay odds are standard as well. There is a maximum of eight teams allowed in a parlay and six in a teaser. That is very weak. There is also a maximum payout amount of $4,900 for multi-team parlays. I cannot imagine anything worse than hitting a big parlay and being told I don't get the full value of the payout. Big gamblers must have serious problems with the caps imposed at this sportsbook.
For the celebrity aficionado, has merit, if you want to call it that. There is an overwhelming amount of propositions, most of which I have never seen anywhere. You can wager on world events, celebrity issues, trials and more. Some interesting (and ridiculous) examples:
- Which couple will marry first? Paris Hilton and Nick Carter (+300) or Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore (-500)
- Will Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey divorce before 12-31-05? Yes (even money), No (-140)
- Will Pete Rose be caught betting (again) on major league baseball before 12-31-05? Yes (+1000)
- Will Kobe Bryant quit his NBA career and start a new career as a XXX movie producer before 12-31-04? Yes (+10,000)
Believe it or not, these are really on the site.
Bottom Line
seems to be in the market for young amateur gamblers. Based on internet reviews and posted payout limits, serious gamblers should not even think about using this site. |
